2009 Acura TL

Exterior

In completely redesigning the TL, Acura aimed to enhance every aspect of the original model. Featuring a stiff unit-body construction with expansive use of high-strength steel (as well as key aluminum components), unique and dramatic exterior styling
The TL has the visual presence to back up its performance, with exterior luxury cues such as genuine stainless-steel trim, LED taillights and dynamic surface lines designed to capture the viewer’s attention.
Special acoustic windshield glass is used to help reduce wind noise. The windshield uses two layers of 2-mm safety glass with an inner layer of a transparent elastic acoustic membrane for a total thickness of 4.5 mm.
The TL\'s standard power moonroof tilts or slides via a one-touch ceiling mounted control. A built-in auto-reverse system helps ensure that the moonroof will not close forcefully if a hand or arm is in the way.
With athletic and dynamic styling, powerful engine performance and available Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), the fourth-generation Acura TL was designed to be the most exciting performance-luxury sedan in Acura history.
Turning the key twice in the driver’s door lock or pressing and holding the lock button on the remote Keyless Access Remote closes the windows and moonroof simultaneously.
The Keyless Access System allows the trunk to be opened by pressing a “smart button” on the rear spoiler. As long as the Keyless Access Remote transponder is in their possession it will recognize the presence of the driver and allow the trunk to be opened
Standard Heated outside mirrors with driver recognition, reverse gear tilt-down and LED integrated directional signals

Interior

Positioned between the tachometer and speedometer, a high-resolution LCD Multi Information Display gives the driver instant access to critical information.
In the rear seat, a convenient push-button release on each outboard headrest allows it to be manually folded down when not in use to provide a 7% increase in rearward visibility. The center rear headrest is vertically adjustable for passenger comfort.
A supportive 10-way adjustable (8-way adjustable seat with 2-way adjustable lumbar support) power-actuated driver seat is standard. Also an 8-way adjustable power front passenger seat includes height and seat-cushion tilt adjustments.
Technology Package is available on both models. Featuring such items as Keyless Access System with push-button start, Acura Navigation System with Trilingual Voice Recognition with rear view camera, ELS Surround premium audio system, and Bluetooth Audio.
The TL gains an additional 33 mm (1.3”) of rear legroom and 14 mm (0.5”) of rear shoulder room, thus making it the most spacious TL ever.
Inside, TL occupants are treated to an engaging interior which includes advanced LED lighting throughout the cabin, thickly bolstered leather seating and flowing metallic or wood patterned accents.
On the steering wheel, and integrated with the NAVI control buttons, are controls for Bluetooth HandsFreeLink system.
The steering wheel incorporates the most commonly used controls. Audio system controls are positioned on the left spoke, as are navigation system controls (if equipped with the Technology Package)
The TL has a dual-zone, dual-mode adaptive climate control system with air filtration that lets the driver and front passenger independently set temperature modes to their individual liking.
The TL comes standard with an 8-speaker audio system developed for Acura by Panasonic that includes a 6-disc CD changer. The sound system offers USB port connectivity for iPod, iPhone or removable USB mass storage devices.

Mechanical

Acura’s high-tech Drive-by-Wire throttle system monitors pedal position, throttle body opening, engine rpm, and road speed to establish driving conditions in real time to provide the predictable and responsive feel corresponding to driver expectations.
The TL takes the driving experience to the next level with the new Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) model, which features a 3.7-litre V-6 engine developing 305 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque – making it the most powerful Acura sedan ever.
A choice of two powerful VTEC V-6 powertrains (280-hp 3.5L and 305-hp 3.7L), Electric Power Steering, and a luxurious and technologically advanced interior
The standard 3.5-litre V-6 develops 280 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque and drives the front wheels through a sophisticated Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters and Grade Logic Control System.

Safety

Additional exterior safety features include a deformable hood panel, hood hinges and windshield-wiper pivots to help mitigate pedestrian injuries.
The TL offers superb accident-avoidance capabilities thanks to features like its double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension systems, new Electric Power Steering, 4-wheel disc brakes (with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist) and Vehicle Stability Assist
The TL’s range of standard safety features is exemplary and includes six airbags, active front head restraints, and the advantages of Advanced Compatibility Engineering front body design for enhanced crash protection.
Safety features continue with 3-point seatbelts and head restraints for all seating positions, while the driver and front passenger also have front seatbelts with an automatic tensioning system with load limiters and an Active Head Restraint System.
Rear-seat features include Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH), which permits attachment of up to two child seats.
