Exterior

Large, integrated dual-outlet chrome exhausts hint at an engine enriched with horsepower, attitude and pulse-racing performance.
Impressive 7-spoke, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with large-diameter tires connect you to the road like never before while enhancing the RL’s confident style and aggressive appearance.
Power moonroof with tilt, auto-open/close, auto-reverse, key-off operation and sliding shade
Heated side mirrors with driver recognition, reverse gear tilt-down and integrated turn indicators
RL Elite features Active Front Lighting System, the left low-beam unit can swivel left, and the right low beam can swivel right, to improve illumination while cornering, or to illuminate around the corner of an intersection.
To further improve sound isolation, the RL makes use of more sound deadening material, a acoustic glass windshield, and a Active Sound Control™ system that helps cancel out interior noise.
Front fog lights, auto-on/off headlights, headlight washer system and rear window defroster with timer are all standard features on the RL.

 


Interior

RL ups technology with the addition of high-tech items such as a Note function for XM® Radio, upgraded Zagat® restaurant information and improved voice recognition now with over 700 voice commands.
The RL interior features many new features including 8 -way adjustable front seats with power lumbar supports now with six levels of heating/cooling adjustability, optional Blackwood interior trim and more room for rear seat passengers.
Acura Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® wireless phone connectivity allows the driver to dial a Bluetooth®-enabled mobile telephone by voice command.
The RL is equipped with Smart Entry, which allows owners to lock and unlock doors, open the trunk, and start the car without having the keyless remote in the hand.

Mechanical

To eliminate unnecessary service stops while ensuring that the vehicle is properly maintained, the RL has a Maintenance Minder system that automatically monitors the vehicle\'s operating condition.
The RL utilizes a drive-by-wire throttle system that eliminates the need for a conventional throttle cable. The DBW system monitors various parameters like throttle pedal position, throttle valve position, road speed, engine speed and gear position.
Acura VTEC® (Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control) is a major contributor to the 3.7L engine\'s gains in horsepower and torque. The engine features the first ever application of VTEC® on a SOHC engine for both the intake and exhaust valves.
To deliver exceptional handling performance and to maximize all-season traction, the RL comes standard with revised Super Handling All-Wheel Drive that incorporates new control parameters that deliver quicker, more precise all-wheel-drive response.
The 3.7L V-6 is teamed with a new Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission with revised shift parameters, a more robust torque converter, and two new forms of transmission gear activation.

 


Safety

. LATCH child-seat mounting system features built-in lower anchors and ready-to-use tether attachment points that allow compatible child safety seats to be installed without using the vehicle\'s seat belt system.
The innovative Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ body structure adopts a high-tensile, high-efficiency unibody safety cell structure to provide enhanced protection from multi-directional collision.
RL\'s rearview camera shows a colour image on the navigation-system screen of the area directly behind the vehicle. Even if the navigation system is turned off, the camera is activated automatically when you engage reverse.
The advanced 4-channel Vehicle Stability Assist system with Traction Control will automatically detect and correct understeer or oversteer situations, sometimes before you\'re even aware there\'s a need.
Side curtain and dual-stage front air bag systems work together with sophisticated restraint systems to minimize injury to passengers in sufficient impacts.
4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist
For this generation RL an Active Headrest Restraint System is built into the front seats to improve neck and head protection in the event in a rear impact collision.
